The LA Solar Prioritization Tool is a first-of-its-kind interactive platform for mapping net solar potential in LA County. The tool integrates detailed household electricity consumption, property-level solar generation potential, electric grid operations, and hourly demand and generation profiles to calculate the most accurate assessment of solar electricity generation capacity for an urban area in North America.
The tool focuses on advancing community energy assets in underserved and disadvantaged communities of LA County. It was developed as part of a California Energy Commission Phase I Grant to design an Advanced Energy Community in the unincorporated East Los Angeles County neighborhoods of Basset and Avocado Heights.
The tool is supported by the LA Energy Atlas and is a product of the California Center for Sustainable Communities at UCLA.
